Michele
Rep. Michele Reagan was born in Rockford, Illinois, grew
up in the Chicago-land area and graduated from Illinois state University.
She moved to Arizona with her family in 1991 where they owned and operated
FASTSIGNS on Central Avenue in Phoenix for 10 years. During that
period, Michele was very active in civic and business organizations and
began to volunteer on political campaigns.
Michele is very passionate about small business issues
and felt Arizona needed some business minds down at the State Capitol.
So, in 2001 she decided she would run and was elected to the House of
Representatives in 2002.
In 2004 the Speaker of the House chose Rep. Reagan to be
the Chairman of the House Commerce Committee. She is the youngest
female to hold this position. Michele also served on the powerful Ways
and Means Committee, the Ethics Committee, the Environment Committee, and
the Banking and Insurance Committee.
Michele stays active in our community with several groups
such as Paradise Republican Women, Scottsdale Republican Forum, Fountain
Hills Republican Club, is the former Treasurer of Legislative District 8 as
well as being a precinct committeeman and state committeeman for over 10
years.
She likes to joke that her political career began when
she served as President of her Homeowners Association 12 years ago.
Michele stays involved with the National Federation of Independent
Businesses (NFIB), and the Arizona Small Business Association (ASBA).
She is a member of several boards, her favorites being the Citizen's Action
for the Arts, the Scottsdale Leadership Advisory Board, and Scottsdale
Foundation for the Handicapped (also known as STARS).
Recently, Michele was selected to represent the Untied
States with a delegation traveling to Australia for the American Council of
Young Political Leaders out of Washington, D.C. where they spent three weeks
meeting with political, business and cultural leaders at Australia's
national and local levels.
Rep. Reagan was listed as one of the most effective
legislators in 2007, and was named the Legislator of the Year by the Capitol
Times in 2009. She is married, has one step-daughter, 3 dogs and lives
in Scottsdale.
